Kailashahar, July 28 – Tension gripped Ramkrishna Mahavidyalaya in Kailashahar on Monday afternoon after a dispute over college uniforms escalated into a standoff between students and outsiders, prompting police intervention.

According to reports, the incident began when first-semester student Ashraful Islam entered the college premises without wearing the prescribed uniform. Senior students confronted him and asked him to leave the campus.

Allegedly, Ashraful then called a group of outsiders, who entered the college, leading to chaos. In response, senior students locked the college gates, resulting in a heated argument between the two groups.

Police and TSR personnel rushed to the spot and managed to disperse the outsiders, bringing the situation under control. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Several students have blamed the college administration for negligence, claiming that repeated complaints about enforcing a strict uniform policy and preventing the entry of outsiders had gone unheeded.

Speaking to reporters, student leaders said, “We have been requesting the administration for months to make uniforms compulsory and stop unauthorized entry during college hours. Unfortunately, no concrete action has been taken.”

On Monday, representatives of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) submitted a fresh written complaint to the college authorities, reiterating their demands for mandatory uniforms and strict security measures on campus.

The students also expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of the Principal during such a sensitive situation, stating that his presence could have helped de-escalate tensions.

Police officials confirmed that the situation is now under control but assured that measures will be taken to prevent a recurrence of such incidents. The college administration is expected to convene a meeting soon to address the students’ demands.

Normal classes resumed after the intervention, though tension continues to linger among students.
