Republican candidate Donald Trump won 26 states including Montana Texas, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky and more while Democrat Kamala Harris bagged only 19 states so far as the early projections started streaming in. The counting of ballots is underway in the remaining counties. Trump appears to be heading towards the presidency as he has also won swing states in North Carolina and leading in others, but Harris, however, could still defeat him even if she falls short in these two states, with exactly 270 electoral college votes. Notably, by winning Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, she could achieve a razor-thin margin of victory.
However, the said outcome is contingent on Harris winning all the non-swing states that Joe Biden won in the 2020 Presidential elections.
Voting is now closed, and ballots have begun counting in many. Early in-person and mail-in votes are expected to be tallied first in most states. Over 82 million people in the country took advantage of early voting to cast their ballots.
