Agartala: Mar 29: In response to rising concerns over incidents of violence against women and children, the Sadar District Women’s Congress organized a demonstration program on Saturday. The event aimed to highlight the need for immediate action and the implementation of the 33% Women’s Reservation Bill.
The program commenced with a street meeting at Vivekananda Maidan, followed by a protest march through various city streets, culminating at Congress Bhavan. Key attendees included Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha, Women’s Congress President Sarvani Ghosh Chakraborty, and Sadar District Women’s Congress Committee President Rupa Roy Das, among other leaders.
During the event, leaders of the Women’s Congress addressed journalists, urging the state government to take decisive measures to combat violence against women and children. They emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of women across all societal levels and called for the effective implementation of the Women’s Reservation Bill.
The Women’s Congress also announced plans to collaborate with the Provincial Women’s Congress for future statewide protest programs to further their cause.
