Agartala, March 31:
Rajib Bhattacharjee, state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rajya Sabha MP, on Tuesday challenged the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) administration led by Tipra Motha to release a white paper detailing the utilisation of funds allocated over the past five years.

Responding to allegations of financial deprivation raised against the state government, Bhattacharjee asserted that the council administration must come clean on its expenditure. “If the party governing the TTAADC is transparent, it should disclose every detail of how funds transferred by the state were spent and what development initiatives were undertaken,” he said.

Citing alleged delays in infrastructure projects, he referred to the Kherengbar Community Health Centre, located at the ADC headquarters. According to him, former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb had sanctioned Rs 30 crore for the hospital’s upgradation, while incumbent Chief Minister Manik Saha later approved an additional Rs 10 crore. “Even after five years, the project remains incomplete, raising serious questions about implementation,” he remarked.

Bhattacharjee also alleged irregularities in funds allocated for smoke houses meant to support rubber growers. “Large sums were released for installing smoke houses, but there is little clarity on their execution. We have evidence to support our claims,” he said.

The BJP leader made these remarks during an interaction with a local social media channel, focusing on issues surrounding the upcoming TTAADC elections. He criticised what he described as “emotion-driven slogans” such as Greater Tipraland, questioning their practical relevance for common citizens.

Expressing confidence in BJP’s prospects, Bhattacharjee said the party expects a strong performance in the elections. “Our governance record at both the Centre and the state has made a positive impact. This time, we are contesting independently, confident that our organisational strength has grown,” he stated.

He also called for free and fair elections, emphasising the need for a transparent and democratic electoral process.
