Tipra Motha Party Supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarman on Saturday addressed his supporters through a social media livestream, outlining an ambitious governance roadmap for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) following the party’s recent electoral victory.

During the 13-minute session, Debbarman signaled a series of policy reforms aimed at restructuring the council’s functioning. He cautioned that some of the upcoming decisions, expected within the next eight to ten days, may face resistance from within the existing system. Appealing particularly to the youth, he urged them to support the proposed changes and stand by the leadership during the transition.

Debbarman confirmed that newly elected Members of District Council (MDCs) would soon take oath and advised them to avoid extravagant swearing-in ceremonies. He added that key leadership positions, including the Chief Executive Member (CEM) and Chairman, would be decided after the oath-taking process.

Reflecting on his election campaign, the Tipra Motha leader highlighted pressing issues in ADC areas, especially inadequate access to drinking water and poor school infrastructure. He recalled instances where children requested drinking water during campaign visits, calling it a deeply concerning reality. While noting that water supply does not fall directly under TTAADC jurisdiction, he assured that a comprehensive policy addressing both education and water-related challenges would be prepared soon.

Debbarman also emphasized the need for transparency in governance, particularly in recruitment. He announced plans to establish an independent board to oversee hiring processes, ensuring fairness in advertisements and interviews while working to eliminate systemic irregularities.

In addition, he revealed plans to introduce dedicated policies for sports and cultural development, including infrastructure for football and cricket, as well as support for local artists, singers, and folk performers. A think tank comprising retired IAS and TCS officers is also expected to be formed to assist in policy planning.

He further proposed setting up subsidized coaching centers for competitive examinations and stressed inclusivity by ensuring employment opportunities for people across different linguistic communities within the ADC.

Reiterating his call for public support, Debbarman said significant changes would unfold over the next 30 to 45 days, emphasizing that sustained backing from the youth would be crucial to bringing meaningful transformation at the grassroots level.
