Agartala, Aug 11: Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Tuesday called upon newly recruited Tripura Civil Service (TCS) officers to uphold transparency, integrity, efficiency and empathy while discharging their responsibilities and to work towards ensuring effective delivery of government services at the grassroots level.

The Governor made the remarks during an interaction with a group of 27 newly recruited TCS officers, currently undergoing foundational training, at Raj Bhavan here.

The interaction, held at 11 a.m., was attended by senior officials, including Secretary to the Governor Apurba Roy, IAS, the Secretary of General Administration (P&T), ADC to the Governor and Dr. Elizabeth from the State Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (SIPARD).

During the interaction, Governor Nallu enquired about the probationers’ academic backgrounds, professional interests and experiences during their ongoing training at SIPARD. The newly recruited officers come from diverse academic disciplines, including engineering, science, humanities, agriculture and law.

The Governor observed that their varied educational and professional backgrounds could bring diverse perspectives and specialised expertise to the state administration.

The probationers briefed the Governor about their foundational training, including field visits, institutional sessions and interactions at the grassroots level. They also shared their experiences and insights gained during the training programme.

Congratulating the officers on joining the civil service, Governor Nallu reminded them of their crucial role as a bridge between the government and citizens. He urged them to remain accessible to people and approach public grievances with sensitivity and empathy.

Emphasising the importance of grassroots governance, the Governor said the success of welfare and development programmes ultimately depends on whether their benefits reach people, particularly those living in remote areas of the state.

He encouraged the probationers to make effective use of technology as well as their specialised knowledge to improve governance and public service delivery. He also underlined the importance of maintaining integrity and transparency throughout their careers.

The officers expressed gratitude for the opportunity to interact with the Governor and shared their aspirations for future assignments. They reaffirmed their commitment to contributing to Tripura’s socio-economic development, rural empowerment and sustainable growth.

The interaction concluded with a group photograph and high tea, during which senior officials and SIPARD faculty members encouraged the probationers as they prepare for their future roles in the state administration.
