Agartala, May 2 — In a prompt and compassionate response, Minister of State for Industry and Commerce Brishaketu Debbarma extended relief to a storm-affected family in the Simna constituency after their home was severely damaged in last week’s cyclone.

The incident occurred on April 28, when a powerful early morning storm swept through Daiggabari Jumia Tilla in Ramshong ADC village, leaving the house of resident Kiranmala Debbarma completely devastated. The sudden calamity rendered the family vulnerable, with significant damage to their dwelling and belongings.

Acting swiftly upon receiving information, Minister Debbarma visited the affected site to assess the situation firsthand. He was accompanied by local Executive Member (EM) Rabindra Debbarma. During the visit, the minister handed over 3.5 bundles of tin sheets to the family to support the reconstruction of their damaged home. In addition, financial assistance was also provided to help them meet immediate needs and begin the rebuilding process.

The minister assured the family that further administrative support would be extended to ensure proper rehabilitation. He also emphasized the government’s commitment to standing by citizens during times of natural disasters and ensuring that no affected family is left without assistance.

The timely intervention brought much-needed relief and reassurance to the distressed household. Expressing her gratitude, Kiranmala Debbarma thanked the minister and accompanying officials for their swift action and support during a moment of crisis. She said the assistance has given her family hope and the strength to rebuild their lives after the devastating loss.

Local residents also appreciated the quick response from the authorities, noting that such gestures strengthen trust between the administration and the community. Officials indicated that further assessments are underway to identify and assist other families affected by the recent storm in the region.

For Kiranmala Debbarma’s family, the support marks a crucial step toward recovery, transforming a moment of despair into renewed hope for the future.
