Agartala: AIIMS New Delhi has strongly praised Tripura’s healthcare reforms, describing the state as a model of citizen-centric governance and healthcare innovation in the Northeast during a high-level review of the AIIMS-Tripura MoU signed in October 2025.
At a virtual meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, AIIMS experts commended the state’s rapid expansion of telemedicine services, upgraded hospital infrastructure, strengthened emergency and ICU facilities, and the rollout of digital patient feedback mechanisms.
A key highlight was Tripura’s success in reducing infant mortality to 12 per 1,000 live births, nearly half the national average of 24. AIIMS specialists urged further targeted interventions to bring the figure into single digits and announced a follow-up strategy meeting next month.
The AIIMS team also lauded the integration of Tripura’s ‘Mera Hospital’ app with AIIMS’ ‘Santusht’ platform to improve patient satisfaction monitoring and healthcare accountability.
Reviewing medical education reforms, experts welcomed the introduction of new departments, faculty training initiatives, and skill development programmes, while recommending additional incentives to attract and retain medical talent.
AIIMS representatives concluded the review by acknowledging Tripura’s swift implementation of reforms and its commitment to inclusive, technology-driven healthcare delivery, positioning the state as a benchmark for health sector transformation in the region.
