Agartala, June 27: Former Chief Minister of Tripura and veteran CPI(M) leader Manik Sarkar on Saturday visited the residence of late Shubhrajit Chowdhury, who succumbed to injuries sustained in the devastating explosion that took place at a residential flat in the Ramnagar 4 area of Agartala.
The tragic explosion occurred two days ago and sent shockwaves across the locality. According to reports, a powerful blast ripped through the apartment building, causing severe damage and leaving Shubhrajit Chowdhury critically injured. He was immediately rushed to GB Pant Hospital for treatment. Despite continuous medical efforts, he passed away on Friday due to the seriousness of his injuries.
During his visit, Manik Sarkar met the grieving family members, including the deceased’s wife, mother, and relatives, and conveyed his heartfelt condolences. He expressed deep sorrow over the unfortunate incident and extended support to the bereaved family during this difficult time.
Several CPI(M) leaders accompanied Sarkar during the visit and also offered their sympathies. The delegation spent time with the family and listened to their concerns while sharing words of comfort.
Following the condolence visit, Manik Sarkar and the accompanying leaders visited the site of the explosion in Ramnagar to assess the situation firsthand. They interacted with local residents, gathered details regarding the incident, and observed the extent of destruction caused by the blast.
Residents of the area expressed growing concern over safety measures and demanded a thorough investigation into the cause of the explosion. The incident has raised serious questions regarding residential safety and emergency preparedness in densely populated localities.
