Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu today inaugurated the distribution of piglets to livestock-rearing families and bicycles to female football players at the Unakoti Kalakshetra Auditorium. The programme was organised by the Baikunthanath Tarkabushan Memorial Trust.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said initiatives that strengthen rural livelihoods and encourage youth participation in sports play a vital role in inclusive development. He noted that livestock rearing can provide sustainable income to rural families and improve their economic well-being.
Governor Nallu also highlighted the importance of promoting women’s participation in sports. He said the bicycles distributed to female football players would help them commute to training centres and educational institutions more conveniently, enabling them to pursue both academics and sports.
The Governor appreciated the efforts of the Baikunthanath Tarkabushan Memorial Trust for undertaking welfare programmes aimed at empowering rural communities and encouraging young talent. He urged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the assistance provided and called upon voluntary organisations and local communities to continue supporting initiatives for livelihood generation, women’s empowerment and sports development.
The programme was attended by beneficiaries, public representatives and officials.
