Agartala, Sep 23: The ruling BJP’s junior alliance partner TIPRA Motha will hold a rally at Sabroom in South Tripura district on September 26 next to protest against the alleged attack on minorities in the neighbouring country of Bangladesh, which is presently being run by an interim government.

Addressing a press conference here at Agartala Ujjayanta Palace on Monday, the founder of TIPRA Motha informed that the rally will be in solidarity to the minorities, who are being attacked in Bangladesh.

“The main agenda of the rally is to give a message to the Union government to expose Bangladesh in United Nations over the attacks and atrocities being discovered on the people belonging to the Hindu Bengalis, Chakmas, Kukis, Mogs, Christians and Buddhists in Bangladesh,” he told reporters.

Pradyot labelled the alleged attacks on minorities as ‘planned’ and said that this is not the first time that the attack on minorities, including Bengali Hindus and indigenous people, were attacked after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government in Bangladesh. He said that there is a need to raise voice against these unexpectable incidents of attack on minorities in Bangladesh.

“Government of India needs to take stern steps against the government of Bangladesh and this is the right time to act on it,” he said.

Regarding the first and the key meeting on Tipra Accord  held in Delhi recently, Pradyot on Monday said that several issues were placed before the Union government and those were discussed thoroughly.

“We demanded the Union government for compensation to the people, who fell victims to the militant attacks in the past in Tripura. Because soon after the pact was signed with the militant groups in Tripura, the Union government had announced a Rs 250 crore package. We thought that there is a need to ensure compensation for the people, who fell victims to the militant attacks and accordingly we discussed it and placed it before the Union government in writing,” he said, adding that the TIPRA Motha had also demanded reservation for the people belonging to the Manipuri speaking community.
