Agartala: Jan 15: In response to a question raised by MLA Gopal Chandra Roy in the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Finance Minister Pranjit Singh Roy revealed that the state government has not yet made a final decision on regularizing irregular employees. The Minister stated that a comprehensive review process is underway, with the decision to be made after evaluating the data collected on the Finance Department’s portal. The government is also considering the new recruitment policy in making its decision.

Minister Roy outlined that the state government currently employs 1,445 irregular workers, including 836 Daily Rated Workers (DRWs), 311 contingent workers, 193 casual workers, and 105 part-time workers. These employees have been working under irregular terms, and their regularization has been a topic of significant concern.

The Minister emphasized that a final decision on regularization would be taken after a thorough review of the data and in accordance with the newly established recruitment policy. This indicates that the government is working towards addressing the issue, but it requires further examination and alignment with the current recruitment framework.

The ongoing uncertainty surrounding the regularization process has created anxiety among the affected employees, many of whom have been serving in various capacities for extended periods. While the government’s review process signals a move toward resolving the issue, it also highlights the complexity of balancing the needs of irregular employees with the structure of the new recruitment policies.

In summary, while the state government is considering the regularization of its irregular employees, no final decision has been made yet. The government is currently reviewing relevant data and aligning the process with the new recruitment policy before finalizing its approach.
