Agartala, Sept 23: A direct flight service between Agartala and Hyderabad commenced on Monday, marking a significant step in improving the state’s air connectivity.
In a ceremony at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala, Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu expressed his gratitude to IndiGo Airlines on behalf of the people of Tripura for launching the new flight service.
The Governor handed over the boarding pass to a passenger, which marked the inauguration of the new route.
Notably, the Governor himself travelled to Hyderabad in this direct flight.
Speaking to the media at the event, the Governor highlighted that Agartala’s airport is the second busiest in the Northeastern region of India.
The introduction of this direct flight service between Agartala and Hyderabad is expected to benefit people from both Tripura and Bangladesh, particularly those who travel to South India for medical treatment.
Additionally, he mentioned that under the central government’s UDAN scheme, several regional airports have been connected with air services, allowing the general public to save both time and money.
The Governor also expressed hope about the upcoming launch of international flight services from Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport.
The event was attended by K.C. Meena, Director of Agartala Airport, and senior officials from IndiGo Airlines.
