Agartala, April 05: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today emphasized the need for strict enforcement of the Land Revenue Act and associated regulations during a meeting of the State Level Advisory Committee. He directed district administrations to ensure no violations of land-related laws under any circumstances. The meeting, chaired by Dr. Saha, focused on proposals for the diversion of water bodies and the sale and transfer of allotted land. Senior officials from the Revenue, Law, and Tribal Welfare Departments were present, along with District Magistrates and Collectors, who participated via video conference.
A total of 149 applications were reviewed, with 61 seeking permission for water body diversion and 88 for land sale approvals. Dr. Saha stressed the importance of maintaining strict vigilance on land transfers, name changes, and the diversion of agricultural land and water bodies. He also directed the formation of a sub-division level committee, led by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, to thoroughly examine land sale applications through a transparent process.
The Chief Minister reiterated instructions from a previous meeting in December 2023, where district administrations were urged to take stringent precautions regarding land transfers, registrations, and the diversion of agricultural land. Over the past year, several initiatives have been implemented to strengthen revenue administration, including the recruitment of 14 Revenue Inspectors, 164 Tehsildars, and 37 Muhuris.
In a move towards increased transparency, the government is implementing a system to upload registered document information online, allowing buyers to verify land ownership. A unique 14-digit Land Parcel Identification Number has also been introduced for each plot. Additionally, a cybersecurity audit has been conducted on key software platforms used by the Revenue Department to safeguard sensitive data.
These efforts are aimed at enhancing transparency, preventing illegal land transactions, and improving the overall efficiency of the revenue administration.
