Agartala, April 28, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Monday paid tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, hailing him as a pioneer of social equality and the principal architect of the Indian Constitution. Speaking at a State Level Seminar on the occasion of Dr. Ambedkar’s 135th Birth Anniversary at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan, Dr. Saha emphasized that Ambedkar’s vision continues to influence national policies, especially under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
“Dr. Ambedkar worked against hatred, malice, and oppression. He was the country’s first Law Minister and was instrumental in shaping modern India. It is unfortunate that his Bharat Ratna came much later in 1990, despite his immense contributions,” said the Chief Minister.
Dr. Saha underlined Ambedkar’s commitment to eradicating exploitation and uplifting marginalized communities, adding that he had proposed many reforms to ensure fundamental rights and economic stability. He praised Ambedkar’s focus on industrial and agricultural development, saying that his fight against superstition and inequality laid the foundation for today’s unified India.
Dr. Saha further stated that PM Modi’s policies reflect Dr. Ambedkar’s vision. “Whether it’s financial inclusion through banking services, the Mudra Yojana empowering SC, ST, and women, or efforts to make women self-reliant — these are all steps aligned with Ambedkar’s ideals,” he said. The state government, he added, has also launched numerous welfare schemes for SC and other backward classes.
Prominent dignitaries present at the event included MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, Paschim Tripura Zilla Sabhadhipati (in-charge) Biswajit Shil, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, and Scheduled Caste Welfare Department Director Jayanta Dey, among others.
Dr. Saha concluded by urging younger generations to study Ambedkar’s life and contributions, stressing the importance of historical awareness in shaping a just society.
