Udaipur, April 28: Samid Mia, a resident of Maharani area under Udaipur sub-division in Tripura, has been arrested for allegedly making objectionable and derogatory remarks against the Prime Minister on social media. He was apprehended from the Telkajla area under Melaghar Police Station in the early hours of Monday.

The arrest comes amid heightened national tension following a brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which resulted in several fatalities. As the nation mourns, multiple districts in Tripura have witnessed increasing unrest due to individuals posting anti-national content online. In Udaipur, such incidents have caused significant local outrage over the past few days.

Samid Mia, son of Barik Mia from Maharani, reportedly posted offensive remarks about the Prime Minister, prompting immediate backlash. Representatives of the Hindu Jagaran Mancha filed a complaint at the local police station, demanding Samid’s arrest within 24 hours. The police promptly launched an operation to track him down.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police, Gomati District, Souvik Dey, law enforcement had been monitoring the Telkajla area since last night. Officers from the Udaipur Sub-Divisional Police team and Radha Kishorepur Police Station coordinated the operation. After hours of surveillance, Samid Mia was arrested early this morning and taken to Radha Kishorepur Police Station for further investigation.

Police authorities are currently probing the motive behind the offensive post. Officials are working to determine whether the act was politically motivated, a result of misinformation, or part of a broader trend of provocative content circulating online.

Law enforcement has assured that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the investigation’s findings. The case has stirred significant public and political reaction in the region, highlighting growing concerns over digital conduct and national integrity.
