Agatala: April 29: As part of the ‘Save the Constitution Campaign,’ Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman urged citizens to remain vigilant regarding the current administration. On Tuesday, a rally organized by the Pradesh Congress commenced in front of the Agartala Press Club, proceeded through city streets, and culminated near the Income Tax building on Netaji Road. The event concluded with a protest meeting.
During the rally, clashes occurred between Congress workers and police as protesters attempted to breach barricades. Law enforcement eventually brought the situation under control. At the protest meeting, Sudip Roy Barman expressed support for certain central government decisions but criticized broader policies.
He highlighted concerns over unfulfilled promises made since 2014, including responses to Pakistan. Barman accused the government of fostering communal tensions and contrasted this with former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s vision of a secular India. He warned that divisive actions threaten the Constitution and emphasized the importance of unity.
Barman also criticized remarks suggesting Hindus are in danger, describing them as divisive and detrimental to national harmony. He cautioned that the government’s approach could pose challenges to India’s unity and stability in the future.
