Agartala, July : The Advisory Committee meeting of Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport was held on Saturday at the conference hall of the airport’s old terminal building, with a focus on enhancing passenger amenities and long-term development.

The meeting was chaired by Biplab Kumar Deb, MP from West Tripura and Chairman of the Airport Advisory Committee. Key attendees included Airport Director K.C. Meena, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, Superintendent of Police Dr. Kiran Kumar K., former MLA Krishna Dhan Das, and other senior officials.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Deb noted that MBB Airport is the second-busiest in the Northeast after Guwahati in terms of flight operations. “The airport has grown significantly in terms of infrastructure, and our focus is now on improving the overall passenger experience,” he said.

He also highlighted that the Advisory Committee meets twice annually to assess the current status of the airport and to frame development strategies. Saturday’s meeting involved discussions on upgrading passenger services, streamlining operations, and addressing concerns raised by various stakeholders.

“Convenience and satisfaction of passengers are our top priorities,” Deb said, adding that several actionable suggestions were made regarding service quality, airport accessibility, and coordination among agencies.

Airport Director K.C. Meena and officials from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) assured that all feasible suggestions would be taken into consideration for implementation in a phased manner.

The meeting concluded with a joint resolution to transform MBB Airport into a model aviation hub in the Northeast, with a continued focus on infrastructure upgrades, passenger comfort, and operational efficiency.
