Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday laid the foundation stones for new buildings of five schools in Agartala, reaffirming the state government’s focus on strengthening school education infrastructure and improving learning facilities for students.

The foundation stones were laid at the premises of PM SHRI A.D. Nagar Higher Secondary English Medium School. The new buildings will come up at the A.D. Nagar school, Bardowali Class XII School, Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan, Charipara Class XII School and Hapania Class XII School.

According to the Chief Minister, approximately Rs 29.12 crore will be spent on construction of the new buildings for the five schools.

During the programme, Dr. Saha also virtually launched the NAKSHA pilot project and inaugurated newly developed classroom facilities in 240 schools across the state.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said improving school infrastructure was essential for creating a better learning environment. He urged students to give greater importance to classroom education instead of depending heavily on private tuition. “The future of the country will be led by those who possess knowledge,” he said.

Dr. Saha directed officials to ensure that boundary walls are constructed in all schools, with particular attention to girls’ schools. He also stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness and proper hygiene on school premises.

Calling for stronger monitoring of the education system, the Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure that teachers attend schools on time and that schools maintain an appropriate teacher-student ratio. He also called for coordinated efforts to reduce student dropout rates.

Highlighting the government’s investment in school infrastructure, Saha said Rs 1,178.43 crore had already been spent on maintenance and infrastructure development in 213 schools. Approval has also been received for infrastructure development in another 240 schools.

The Chief Minister urged teachers to continuously update their knowledge and adapt to changing times so that students can receive quality and relevant education.

He also highlighted several initiatives undertaken by the present government to strengthen the school education system and improve educational opportunities across Tripura.

Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, School Education Secretary Dr. Milind Ramteke, Director Dr. Samit Ray Chowdhury and senior officials were present at the programme.
