New Delhi, July 28 – The Centre on Monday cleared the appointment of 19 judges across three High Courts, following recommendations made by the Supreme Court Collegium. Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced the appointments on X, stating that President Droupadi Murmu has approved the names.

In the Telangana High Court, four advocates – Gouse Meera Mohiuddin, Chalapathi Rao Suddala, Vakiti Ramakrishna Reddy and Gadi Praveen Kumar – have been appointed as additional judges.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court will see a significant expansion with 14 new appointments. Advocates Pushpendra Yadav, Anand Singh Bahrawat, Ajay Kumar Nirankari, Jai Kumar Pillai, and Himanshu Joshi, along with judicial officers Ramkumar Choubey and Rajesh Kumar Gupta, have been elevated as judges. In addition, judicial officers Alok Awasthi, Ratnesh Chandra Singh Bisen, Bhagwati Prasad Sharma and Pradeep Mittal have been appointed as additional judges. The recommendations for these appointments were made during the Collegium meeting on July 1.

In Gauhati High Court, four names have been cleared – advocates Anjan Moni Kalita and Rajesh Mazumdar, and judicial officers Pranjal Das and Sanjeev Kumar Sharma – as additional judges. These names were recommended earlier by the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court in consultation with senior colleagues.

The appointments are made as per the Memorandum of Procedure (MoP), which involves recommendations from the Chief Justice of the High Court, review by the Governor and the Union Law Ministry, and final approval by the Chief Justice of India in consultation with two senior-most judges of the Supreme Court. After the President signs the warrant of appointment, the Department of Justice notifies the appointments officially.

These appointments are expected to strengthen the judicial strength and help in faster disposal of cases in the three High Courts.
