Agartala, Sept 2: A delegation of the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), led by party president and former minister Prem Kumar Reang, general secretary Swapan Debbarma and other members of its central executive committee, paid a courtesy visit to senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders on Wednesday.
The meeting focused on strengthening political cooperation between the two parties, improving coordination at various levels and reaffirming their shared commitment to the development and prosperity of Tripura.
The IPFT delegation was welcomed in the presence of BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) B. L. Santhosh, BJP Tripura state president Abhishek Debroy, Tripura state in-charge Dr Rajdeep Roy and Assam and Tripura state in-charge Ravindra Raju.
During the meeting, leaders from both sides held discussions on issues concerning political coordination and the need to further strengthen cooperation between the alliance partners. The discussions also covered the importance of maintaining close communication and ensuring effective coordination in matters related to governance and organisational activities.
The leaders emphasised that continued cooperation between the BJP and IPFT would be important for advancing the interests of the people of Tripura. They reiterated their commitment to working together towards inclusive development and ensuring that the benefits of government initiatives reach people across the state.
The meeting assumes significance as political activities continue to intensify in Tripura ahead of upcoming local-level elections and organisational programmes. Coordination among alliance partners is expected to remain an important aspect of the political strategy in the state.
The participation of senior BJP organisational leaders, including Santhosh and the state-level leadership, highlighted the importance attached to maintaining dialogue with the IPFT and strengthening the alliance framework.
The IPFT, which has been an ally of the BJP-led government in Tripura, has traditionally focused on issues concerning indigenous communities and their socio-economic and political interests. Leaders of both parties have repeatedly stressed the need for coordinated efforts to promote development while addressing the aspirations of different sections of the state’s population.
The latest meeting concluded with both sides reiterating their shared resolve to strengthen political collaboration, maintain mutual coordination and work collectively for the comprehensive development, peace and prosperity of Tripura.
