Agartala: August 01: Bangladesh High Commissioner to India, Mohammad Riaz Hamidullah, has arrived in Tripura for a four-day official visit from August 1 to August 4. The Tripura Government has confirmed that the High Commissioner landed at Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport, Agartala, on August 1 at 11 am aboard an Air India flight.

Soon after his arrival, he paid floral tributes at Albert Ekka Park in Agartala. In the afternoon, he visited the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission office in Agartala, the Integrated Check Post (ICP) and the Akhaura Land Port to review ongoing activities and cross-border connectivity initiatives.

In the evening, the High Commissioner met with Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha at the Chief Minister’s official residence. Their discussions were followed by a formal dinner hosted in his honor.

On August 2, Friday morning, he is scheduled to cross into Bangladesh through the Agartala ICP-Akhaura Land Port route to visit Ashuganj. After completing his engagements there, he will return to Agartala by afternoon and visit the Nischintapur Railway Station to review the progress of the Agartala-Akhaura rail link project.

The third day of his visit, August 3, will begin with a meeting with Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy at Raj Bhavan at 11 am. Post this courtesy call, he will travel to Sabroom in South Tripura, where he will inspect the Integrated Check Post and Maitri Setu, the bridge that links Tripura with Bangladesh’s Ramgarh, aimed at boosting trade and connectivity.

Concluding his trip, the High Commissioner will depart Agartala for New Delhi on August 4.

This visit is expected to strengthen India-Bangladesh ties, especially in the fields of cross-border trade, connectivity, and cultural cooperation.
