Agartala: August 07: In a heartfelt act of compassion, Tripura Ministers Tinku Roy and Santana Chakma visited the home of late truck driver Mihir Lal Debnath in the Chakmaghat area of Teliamura on Thursday to express condolences and offer financial support to his grieving family.

Mihir Lal, a resident of Dasda, Barahaldi in Kanchanpur, tragically lost his life in a recent road accident. His untimely death not only brought sorrow but also drew attention to critical lapses in the state’s emergency response system.

During their visit, the ministers handed over a financial aid cheque of ₹6 lakh to Mihir Lal’s father, in line with the state government’s announced relief for the family. They were joined by North Tripura District Magistrate Chandni Chandran, Kanchanpur Sub-Divisional Magistrate Deepak Kumar, and other senior officials.

Addressing the media, Minister Tinku Roy reaffirmed the government’s commitment to standing with the bereaved family during this difficult time. He also assured that the state will extend continued support, including arranging a social pension for Mihir Lal’s father to provide long-term assistance.

The tragedy has sparked widespread concern over the inadequacy of the state’s emergency response services. In response, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha took prompt administrative action by suspending the Teliamura SDM and issuing a show-cause notice to the Khowai District Magistrate.

To further investigate the circumstances surrounding the mishandling of the accident response, a three-member committee has been constituted.

This incident has underscored the urgent need for a robust and efficient emergency infrastructure in the state, while the government’s swift response aims to ensure accountability and support for the affected family.
