Itanagar, Sep 14 — In a remarkable demonstration of combat preparedness, the Indian Army’s elite Spear Corps successfully conducted a high-intensity exercise titled ‘Dibang Shakti’ in the challenging terrain of Arunachal Pradesh’s Dibang Valley, officials said on Saturday.

Defence spokesman Lt Col Mahendra Rawat said the exercise was designed to test asymmetric warfare capabilities under extreme conditions, including dense jungles, steep mountains, and unpredictable weather. Troops displayed specialized survival skills, jungle warfare techniques, and combat free fall operations.

The operation demanded not only physical endurance and tactical acumen but also mental resilience as soldiers navigated uncharted terrain in simulated combat scenarios. The exercise reinforced the Army’s preparedness to counter unconventional threats and conduct rapid-response missions in high-altitude and jungle environments along India’s eastern borders. Seamless coordination between multiple arms of the forces, supported by advanced technologies, highlighted the Army’s focus on holistic combat readiness.

Lt Col Rawat noted that the exercise strengthened patriotic zeal and embodied the Army’s motto of being ever-prepared, driven by innovation and resilience.

Earlier this week, the Army also carried out ‘Exercise Siyom Prahar’ in Arunachal Pradesh, aimed at validating the integration of drone technology in modern battlefield scenarios. Conducted under realistic combat conditions, the drill refined new Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) for integrating drone inputs with conventional firepower and enhancing rapid decision-making.

The exercise highlighted the synergy between traditional combat arms and emerging technologies, reaffirming the Army’s commitment to innovation. By blending unmanned aerial systems with proven warfighting skills, the Army demonstrated its resolve to remain future-ready and combat capable.

Both exercises reflect the Indian Army’s sustained efforts to enhance operational readiness, adaptability, and technological edge in securing the nation’s borders.
