New Delhi, Nov 1: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed strong confidence in a decisive National Democratic Alliance (NDA) victory in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, forecasting that the coalition will secure 160 of 243 seats, paving the way for a two-thirds majority government.

Speaking at the NDTV Bihar Power Play conclave, Shah lauded Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s governance, crediting him for transforming Bihar’s once-troubled law and order situation into one of stability and growth. “Bihar is among the most politically conscious states in India. The people have witnessed the change that good governance can bring,” Shah asserted.

Highlighting Bihar’s developmental achievements, the Home Minister pointed to the construction of four major bridges over the Ganga, with ten more in progress, alongside initiatives promoting self-employment and a sharp decline in Maoist activities. “Earlier, the discussion was about robbery and violence. Today, it’s about infrastructure, safety, and opportunity,” he said.

Shah firmly reiterated that the NDA would contest under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, calling him the alliance’s undisputed face. “I’ve clarified this fifty times — Nitish Kumar is our Chief Minister. The NDA stands united under his leadership,” he said, while noting that any post-election decisions would follow constitutional protocol.

In contrast, the opposition Grand Alliance, led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has projected Tejashwi Yadav as its Chief Ministerial candidate, often criticising the NDA for not formally naming one.

Brushing off such attacks, Shah said the NDA’s unity, governance record, and developmental vision are more convincing than political rhetoric.

As Bihar prepares for a crucial electoral test, Shah’s remarks signal the BJP’s strategic confidence and its emphasis on continuity and stability under Nitish Kumar’s leadership.
