Agartala, Nov 2: The Congress party in Bishalgarh, which had been struggling with organizational stagnation, has found new momentum after a recent incident of arson. The old, dilapidated Congress Bhavan—allegedly set ablaze by drug peddlers a few days ago—has now become a symbol of renewed political determination.

On Sunday afternoon, Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Ashish Saha, accompanied by party workers and supporters, visited the fire-damaged Congress Bhavan in Bishalgarh. During his visit, Saha assessed the extent of the damage and assured that the office would be repaired soon to resume regular political activities.

“The Congress office in Bishalgarh was set on fire by drug dealers, but this act of destruction has reignited our resolve. We will repair and reopen the office soon,” Saha told reporters. He also alleged that local Congress workers had been unable to operate from the office for months due to continuous intimidation and violent attacks by ruling party supporters.

Saha further claimed that internal conflicts and factionalism within the ruling party have plunged Bishalgarh into unrest. “The people of Bishalgarh are living in fear due to the ruling party’s internal power struggle,” he said.

The TPCC president pledged to work with the administration to restore peace and normalcy in the area. “Congress will stand by the people and, with administrative support, will help make Bishalgarh a peaceful and prosperous town again,” he added.

Saha’s visit has infused fresh energy among local Congress workers, who see it as a step toward reviving the party’s grassroots activities in the region, once considered a stronghold of the opposition.
