New Delhi, Nov 19 — A special court on Wednesday remanded Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, to 11 days of National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody. He will be produced before the court again on November 29 at 2 p.m.

According to the NIA, Anmol is a key figure in the BKI–Bishnoi gangster syndicate and has played a crucial role in managing its international operations. His suspected Khalistani links, coordination with overseas operatives, and involvement in the wider criminal network will be central to the agency’s interrogation.

NIA counsel Rahul Tyagi argued that custodial interrogation was essential to unearth the extent of Anmol’s activities within the syndicate. However, the defence contended that the NIA already possesses all necessary evidence and that further custody was unwarranted. They claimed the case lacked direct evidence and stressed that Anmol was ready to cooperate. The court rejected these submissions and granted the NIA’s plea for custody.

Earlier in the day, Anmol — who had been residing in the United States — was deported and arrested upon arrival in India. Absconding since 2022, he is the 19th accused arrested in connection with the terror-gangster network allegedly led by Lawrence Bishnoi.

The NIA said Anmol was chargesheeted in March 2023 after investigations revealed that between 2020 and 2023 he actively supported designated terrorist Goldy Brar and other associates in executing multiple acts of terrorism in India. Operating from the U.S., he allegedly coordinated logistics, managed extortion networks, and provided shelter to shooters.

Anmol faces several serious charges, including conspiracy to murder former Maharashtra Minister Baba Siddique, involvement in the firing outside actor Salman Khan’s Bandra residence, and a suspected role in the killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.

He was arrested in California in November 2024 for entering the U.S. with illegal documents, shortly after India initiated extradition proceedings backed by a non-bailable warrant and an Interpol Red Corner Notice.
