Agartala, December 12:
In a compassionate gesture aimed at supporting a bereaved farming household, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday handed over ₹4 lakh in financial assistance to Bandana Das, the widow of late farmer Sanjib Das of Indira Panchayat under Sabroom subdivision. Sanjib Das, a sharecropper, tragically lost his life in a recent accident, leaving his family devastated and financially vulnerable.

Upon receiving news of the incident, the Chief Minister promptly instructed the concerned District Magistrate to take immediate steps to provide relief to the affected family. The assistance was extended under the state’s ‘Mukhyamantri Samipeshu’ programme, under which Dr. Saha personally met the grieving family and offered the financial support.

In addition to the monetary aid, Dr. Saha directed officials to ensure further long-term support for the family. One of the two daughters will be provided a monthly stipend of ₹4,000, helping secure her education and basic needs. The Chief Minister also ordered that the family be brought under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana, enabling them to receive subsidised essential commodities and welfare benefits aimed at improving their livelihood security.

Speaking during the interaction, Dr. Saha reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the farming community. “We stand firmly with this farmer’s family during their time of distress and will continue to support them in every possible manner,” he said, assuring that all necessary measures would be taken to strengthen their socio-economic stability.

The Chief Minister’s initiative has been widely appreciated as a timely intervention, reflecting the government’s proactive approach in addressing the hardships faced by vulnerable farming families. The gesture also underscores the administration’s continued efforts to provide compassionate governance and extend welfare benefits to those in need across the state.
