Kanchanpur, Jan 4: Tripura Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag visited Kanchanpur sub-division on Sunday to review the law and order situation and assess security arrangements along the India–Bangladesh international border. The visit aimed to strengthen coordination among security agencies and ensure vigilance in sensitive border areas.

During the tour, the DGP inspected the Khanthalang Border Security Force (BSF) camp, situated in the border region, and visited the headquarters of the 13th Tripura State Rifles (TSR) Battalion at Subhashnagar. He also carried out inspections of Bhangmun and Kanchanpur police stations to evaluate policing and security preparedness in the sub-division.

Senior police officials accompanied the DGP, including North Tripura Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ashish Kumar. During interactions with officers at Kanchanpur police station, DGP Anurag expressed satisfaction with the overall law and order situation in the sub-division. He noted that the area remains stable and well under control and commended the police administration for effectively maintaining peace and security.

The DGP also reviewed ground-level security arrangements and issued specific instructions to officers to remain vigilant and proactive, particularly in sensitive border regions, to prevent any untoward incidents. Emphasising the importance of coordinated efforts, he urged officers to ensure close communication with BSF personnel and other security agencies to respond swiftly to potential threats.

Sources said the visit was part of a broader initiative to enhance operational readiness and strengthen border security, especially given the strategic importance of the Kanchanpur sub-division along the international border. The DGP’s visit is expected to reinforce confidence among security personnel and local communities about the administration’s commitment to maintaining law, order, and safety in the region.

This inspection underscores Tripura police’s proactive approach in maintaining peace while ensuring heightened vigilance in sensitive border areas.
