In a landmark step to support skilled rural youth migrating for employment, the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) has set up its first Migration Support Center in Bengaluru. The initiative aims to assist newly placed candidates under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) scheme by providing temporary food and lodging during their initial days in the city.

The support center is designed to ease the transition of young job seekers from rural Tripura to urban work environments. Officials said it will function as a safety net, helping candidates adjust to city life while reducing the uncertainties and challenges commonly faced during migration.

TRLM CEO Tarit Kanti Chakma, IAS, along with Additional CEO Subrata Majumder, COO (Skills) Dr. Sankaraj Roy, COO Dr. Dipayan Ghosh, and other officials inspected the center’s infrastructure in Bengaluru on Saturday. They emphasized that the facility will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being and confidence of newly placed youths until they settle into their respective jobs.

Coinciding with the launch of the Migration Support Center, TRLM organized an Alumni Meet in Bengaluru, bringing together several youths from Tripura who are currently employed in the city. Many alumni shared experiences of financial independence and their ability to support families back home, highlighting the tangible impact of the DDU-GKY program on rural livelihoods.

The event was attended by Chief Guest Tanushree Debbarma, IAS, along with senior TRLM officials, State Mission Managers from Tripura, the COO of Karnataka, and the Regional Director of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Alumni were felicitated with Risha, the traditional Tripuri attire, and bags as a mark of recognition for their achievements.

Officials informed that TRLM has already spent Rs 93 crore on training and placement of rural youth under DDU-GKY. The scheme targets individuals aged 15 to 35 years, focusing on market-driven skills, sustainable employment, and career growth, while prioritizing disadvantaged sections.

The Migration Support Center and Alumni Meet reaffirm the Tripura Government’s commitment to skill development, livelihood security, and the successful integration of rural youth into the urban workforce.
