Tripura’s political and social landscape suffered an irreparable loss with the passing of Biswa Bandhu Sen, the highly respected Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, on December 26, 2025. His death has triggered widespread grief across the state, with leaders and citizens remembering him as a dedicated public servant and visionary leader.

Describing his demise as the fall of a “bright star,” BJP State President and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee visited Sen’s residence in Dharmanagar on Tuesday to pay his last respects. Bhattacharjee offered floral tributes and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.

“Dharmanagar was dearer to him than his own life. He worked tirelessly for the development and beautification of this town, and today Dharmanagar stands transformed because of his vision and dedication. His untimely demise has left the entire city in deep mourning,” Bhattacharjee said while recalling the late leader’s lifelong commitment to public service.

He further stated that Biswa Bandhu Sen’s ideals, integrity, and people-centric approach to politics would continue to inspire future generations. “His contribution to the state and his love for the people will always be remembered,” he added.

Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, along with several other senior political leaders and party workers, also visited Sen’s residence to pay homage. The gathering reflected the deep respect Sen commanded across party lines and within the wider community.

Biswa Bandhu Sen was widely admired for his calm demeanor, administrative acumen, and dedication to democratic values. As Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, he upheld the dignity of the House and played a key role in maintaining parliamentary decorum.

His death has cast a pall of sorrow across Tripura, particularly in Dharmanagar, where residents remember him not only as a political leader but also as a guardian of the town’s progress. Tributes continue to pour in from across the state, underscoring his lasting impact on Tripura’s political journey and public life.
