Tension prevailed in the Monpui area of Jampui Hill after unidentified miscreants vandalized property, triggering concern and anger among local residents. According to locals, trees in nearby gardens were cut down and the signboard of the Mizo Convention was damaged, causing distress in one of Tripura’s most scenic and well-maintained tourist destinations.

The incident has drawn strong condemnation from the local community, which prides itself on preserving the natural beauty and cleanliness of Jampui Hill. Residents described the act as not only a violation of public property but also an attack on the region’s cultural and environmental values.

Jampui Hill, often referred to as one of the cleanest places in Tripura, is known for its serene landscapes, orange orchards, and warm hospitality. Local people said that while the area has always welcomed visitors with open arms, such acts of vandalism threaten the harmony and reputation of the hill station.

“We welcome everyone to Jampui Hill. It is a place known for cleanliness, peace, and cultural harmony. However, we request our visitors to respect the environment and our community values. Please do not litter, damage nature, or destroy public property,” residents appealed.

Community members expressed concern that repeated incidents of vandalism could tarnish the image of Jampui Hill as a responsible and eco-friendly tourist destination. They stressed that tourism should promote mutual respect and sustainability rather than causing harm to local resources and heritage.

Local leaders emphasized the importance of responsible tourism, urging visitors to enjoy the beauty of the hills without harming the environment. “Come, visit, and enjoy, but do so responsibly. Respect our culture, norms, and values—the very identity that makes Jampui Hill special,” they said.

The incident has prompted calls for increased vigilance and preventive measures by the authorities to ensure the safety of public property and natural assets. Residents hope that timely action will help prevent similar incidents in the future and preserve Jampui Hill’s reputation as a peaceful and welcoming destination.

As investigations continue, the community remains united in its resolve to protect the environment and uphold the values that define Jampui Hill.
