A significant step toward strengthening civic infrastructure in Agartala was taken on Friday with the bhumi pujan and foundation stone laying ceremony for a new office building in Ward No. 31 under the Central Zone of the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC). The project is aimed at improving administrative efficiency and enhancing public service delivery at the grassroots level.

The ceremony was attended by several prominent leaders, including Tripura BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, who formally laid the foundation stone along with Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and local MLA Dipak Majumder. Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta, Ward No. 31 Councillor Anjana Das, other elected representatives, senior municipal officials, and a large number of local residents were also present, lending a celebratory and enthusiastic spirit to the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Mayor Dipak Majumder said the construction of the new office building would significantly streamline administrative operations within the ward. He emphasized that the facility would serve as a dedicated center for addressing civic issues, ensuring quicker responses to public grievances and more efficient implementation of development programs. According to him, the initiative reflects the municipal corporation’s commitment to responsive and people-centric governance.

Tripura BJP President and MP Rajib Bhattacharjee echoed similar views, stating that the new office would strengthen ward-level administration and improve coordination between municipal authorities and residents. He expressed confidence that the modern infrastructure would make government services more accessible and transparent for citizens. Bhattacharjee also highlighted the importance of strengthening local governance structures as a foundation for overall urban development.

Following the foundation stone laying ceremony, MP Rajib Bhattacharjee and Mayor Dipak Majumder participated in a blanket distribution program organized for underprivileged and needy residents of the locality. The initiative was welcomed by local people and reflected the administration’s focus on social welfare alongside infrastructure development.

The event marked a positive beginning for enhanced civic administration in Ward No. 31 and underscored the AMC’s efforts to combine development with social responsibility.
