Minister for Scheduled Caste Welfare, Sudhangshu Das, on Friday announced with enthusiasm that the much-awaited traditional festival Milan Mela will begin on February 4, 2026, at the premises of the Higher Secondary School in Fatikroy. The announcement has brought cheer among residents, as the Milan Mela is widely regarded as a symbol of cultural pride, unity, and community bonding in the region.

Speaking to the media, the Minister said that preparations for the festival have already begun in full swing to ensure its smooth and successful conduct. As part of the preparatory process, a coordination meeting was held at the Fatikroy Panchayat Office on Friday. The meeting was attended by officials from various line departments, along with public representatives and leaders from the Fatikroy Assembly constituency. The discussion focused on planning and coordination to manage the large-scale arrangements associated with the fair.

Minister Das stressed that the success of the Milan Mela depends on collective efforts and close coordination between administrative officials and local leadership. He noted that arrangements related to infrastructure, sanitation, drinking water, electricity, traffic management, and public safety are being given special attention. He also highlighted the importance of cultural programs, which remain a major attraction of the fair and reflect the rich traditions and heritage of the area.

Expressing confidence, the Minister said the upcoming Milan Mela would continue its legacy as a vibrant platform for social harmony, cultural expression, and community participation. He added that the festival not only provides entertainment but also supports local artisans, small traders, and performers, thereby contributing to the local economy.

The announcement has generated excitement among people across Fatikroy and neighboring areas, who eagerly await the annual festival as a major social and cultural event. With systematic planning and administrative support underway, the region is preparing to welcome visitors and participants for what is expected to be a memorable and well-organized Milan Mela in 2026.
