Agartala, Feb 4:
The Patient Welfare Committee of GB Hospital convened on Wednesday, with MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, the Committee Chairman, emphasizing the urgent need to enhance patient services and strengthen overall healthcare delivery at the state-run facility. The meeting brought together senior officials, including the Health Secretary, as well as doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff.

During the session, the committee conducted a comprehensive review of key hospital operations, covering emergency care, medical service efficiency, medicine supply, sanitation, and infrastructure management. Officials discussed gaps in service delivery and deliberated on measures to improve patient experience and safety.

Chairman Sarkar stressed that healthcare must remain patient-centric, transparent, and humane, with particular attention to ensuring dignity and accessibility for all patients. She highlighted the importance of close coordination between hospital administration, medical staff, and health workers to achieve these objectives, urging a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

The meeting also reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to the state’s health policy, aiming to make GB Hospital a model of efficient and accessible healthcare. The authorities underscored that ongoing monitoring, regular audits, and collective responsibility would be crucial to elevating standards of care. Plans were discussed to streamline patient flow, reduce waiting times, and ensure uninterrupted availability of essential medicines and emergency services.

Highlighting the importance of infrastructure management, the committee recommended periodic maintenance and upgrades to hospital facilities, alongside initiatives to improve cleanliness and hygiene. Training programs for staff to enhance service quality and patient interaction were also proposed.

Concluding the meeting, MLA Sarkar reiterated the committee’s pledge to transform GB Hospital into a more people-oriented institution, ensuring that every patient receives timely, compassionate, and efficient medical care. The committee resolved to follow up on the directives and implement measures that prioritize both patient welfare and overall healthcare standards.
