Kailashahar, Feb 5:
Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy on Thursday visited Kailashahar to inspect the ongoing construction of the much-awaited 200-bed Youth Hostel, a project aimed at resolving the town’s long-standing accommodation challenges during major cultural and sporting events.

During the site visit, Minister Roy reviewed the progress of the construction and expressed confidence that the facility would be completed soon. He highlighted that the hostel would provide a timely and practical solution to the difficulties faced by organizers, artists, athletes, and guests, who often struggle to find adequate lodging during large-scale programmes in the town.

“The Youth Hostel will be a milestone in Kailashahar’s development. Once operational, it will enable smoother management of cultural festivals, sports competitions, workshops, and training camps,” Roy said. He added that the project would strengthen the town’s infrastructure for both cultural and tourism-related activities, enhancing Kailashahar’s capacity to host state- and district-level events efficiently.

Local cultural groups and residents have welcomed the initiative, noting that the hostel will encourage larger gatherings and significantly boost Kailashahar’s standing as a hub for literature, music, theatre, and other arts. The facility is expected to attract more participants and visitors, promoting wider recognition of the town’s cultural and sporting potential.

Officials associated with the project confirmed that construction is progressing steadily and assured that the hostel would be completed within the planned timeframe. They emphasized that the facility would not only address a critical logistical challenge but also serve as a catalyst for the town’s overall development.

With the completion of the 200-bed Youth Hostel, Kailashahar is set to emerge as a preferred venue for cultural and sporting activities in Tripura, combining modern infrastructure with the town’s rich heritage and artistic identity. The project is seen as a significant step toward improving local facilities and supporting Tripura’s broader vision of inclusive cultural and sports development.
