Pune, Feb 9: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) president and veteran leader Sharad Pawar was admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune on Monday afternoon around 4 pm after experiencing health-related discomfort. He was accompanied by his wife Pratibha Pawar, daughter and NCP SP MP Supriya Sule, son-in-law Sadanand Sule, and grandson Rohit Pawar.

According to party sources, Pawar was admitted following complaints of chest congestion and fatigue. He is currently under the care of Dr Abhijeet Lodha, and a preliminary medical examination has already been conducted. Initial assessments indicate that Pawar’s vital parameters, including heart rate and oxygen levels, are stable. However, doctors noted a slightly elevated respiratory rate, prompting further observation.

Taking to social media platform X, Supriya Sule reassured well-wishers about her father’s condition. She stated that Sharad Pawar has developed chest congestion and will require a five-day course of antibiotics. She added that all other vital parameters are normal and thanked doctors and supporters for their concern and good wishes.

Addressing the media, Dr Abhijeet Lodha said that there is no immediate cause for concern. He attributed Pawar’s condition largely to exhaustion caused by continuous travel and engagements over the past several days. The doctor confirmed that Pawar has been admitted to a private room and does not require oxygen support or ventilator assistance. Further test reports are expected within two to three hours, after which a decision will be taken regarding the duration of his hospital stay.

NCP SP legislator Rohit Pawar also spoke to the media, stating that Sharad Pawar had been following a hectic schedule for the last 10 to 12 days, which likely led to physical exhaustion and mild breathing discomfort. He said all tests conducted so far have returned normal results.

Party leaders have appealed to workers and supporters not to crowd the hospital premises, stressing that Ruby Hall Clinic treats many patients daily and unnecessary gatherings could cause inconvenience. A decision on whether Pawar will remain in Pune or be shifted to Mumbai will be taken after reviewing the remaining medical reports.
