Agartala, February 13: A three-day joint capacity-building programme aimed at enhancing coordination and operational readiness of security forces began in South Tripura district on Friday, officials said.

The exercise, titled “Joint Field Operations & Tactical Skills Training”, is being conducted by the South Tripura District Police in collaboration with the 43 Battalion of the Border Security Force from February 13 to 15. The initiative seeks to strengthen field-level synergy between the district police and the BSF personnel deployed along the international border.

Officials stated that the programme holds particular significance in view of prevailing security sensitivities along the India–Bangladesh border, especially amid the evolving situation in the neighbouring country during the ongoing election period. The training is designed to enhance operational preparedness, improve inter-agency coordination, and sharpen rapid response capabilities in border areas.

The programme was formally inaugurated in the presence of Superintendent of Police, South Tripura, Mourya Krishna C, and Second-in-Command of the 43 Battalion BSF, Bibhor Bahuguna, along with other senior officials and participating personnel from both forces.

According to authorities, the training modules cover tactical drills, weapon handling, cover and movement techniques, embussing and debussing procedures, house intervention and search operations, as well as basic explosive awareness. These sessions are aimed at improving interoperability, sharpening professional field skills, and ensuring seamless coordination during joint operations.

Officials said the initiative underscores the commitment of the South Tripura District Police and the BSF to maintain a high state of vigilance and preparedness. The district police also acknowledged the technical expertise and support extended by the 43 Battalion BSF in successfully organising the programme, they added.
