Agartala, February 13: A vibrant children’s fair was organised in Gandacherra subdivision on Friday, bringing together young participants for a day filled with cultural, creative and educational activities. The event created a festive atmosphere as children enthusiastically took part in various competitions and interactive sessions.

The fair was organised by Dumbur Barta magazine with support from the Dumbur Nagar ICDS project at the Muslim Para Anganwadi Centre in Narayanpur Debnath Para. Children from the locality actively participated, reflecting strong community involvement and interest.

Several competitions, including drawing, recitation and handwriting, were conducted to encourage creativity and learning. In the drawing competition, Rajdeep Malakar secured first place, followed by Arnab Debnath in second and Punamita Debnath in third. The winners were presented with trophies in recognition of their talent and efforts.

To further support early childhood education, organisers distributed rhyme books, notebooks, pencils, sharpeners and erasers among the children attending the Anganwadi centre. In addition, teaching aids such as BMI charts and attendance registers were handed over to the centre’s staff and helpers to strengthen record-keeping and child monitoring activities.

The programme was attended by social worker and Secretary of Vivekananda Club, Aditya Sarkar, local elder Shankar Banik, the editor of Dumbur Barta magazine, and staff members of the Anganwadi centre. Addressing the gathering, Sarkar appreciated the initiative and announced that similar children’s fairs would be organised in seven ICDS centres across the subdivision in phases this year, culminating in a larger sub-divisional event.

The event concluded with the distribution of chocolates and biscuits among the children, along with refreshments for participants. Organisers said the fair received an encouraging response from children and their guardians alike.
