Agartala, Feb 25: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday spoke with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini regarding the alleged brutal torture of a 19-year-old student from Tripura in Gurugram.
According to Dr Saha, the Haryana Chief Minister assured him that he would personally look into the matter and ensure that all necessary steps are taken to deliver justice to the victim. The Tripura Chief Minister also spoke with the victim’s mother over the phone, assuring her of all possible support from the state government during this difficult time.
Dr Saha directed the Chief Resident Commissioner at Tripura Bhawan in New Delhi to remain in close coordination with the family and provide all required assistance. At his request, Social Welfare Minister Tinku Roy visited the hospital where the student is undergoing treatment to assess her condition and extend support on behalf of the state government.
The Chief Minister further communicated with the office of the Union Health Minister to ensure that the victim receives the best possible medical care.
Meanwhile, the victim’s mother has alleged that her daughter, who was studying in Gurugram, was unlawfully confined and brutally assaulted for three days by a युवक she had met online. She claimed that the girl managed to make a distress call shortly before the situation worsened, expressing fear for her life.
The student was subsequently rescued, and the accused was taken into custody. It has been alleged that the accused confined her at a paying guest accommodation and subjected her to severe physical abuse during the period.
