Agartala, March 11 — The Tripura government has released ₹6,23,90,000 under the Mukhyamantri Yuba Yogayog Yojana (MYYY) for the Academic Year 2024–25 to support students pursuing higher education across the state.

The fund was formally released by Information Technology Minister Pranajit Singha Roy during a programme held at the Secretariat in Agartala on Wednesday.

The event was attended by senior officials of the Information Technology Department, including IT Secretary Kiran Gitte and IT Director Jeya Ragul Geshan B. IT nodal officers from various colleges, departmental officials, and student representatives were also present on the occasion.

According to official sources, the initiative reflects the state government’s continued commitment to strengthening digital access for students under the leadership of Chief Minister Manik Saha. The scheme aims to equip students with essential digital tools, enabling them to participate more effectively in modern learning environments and access a wide range of online educational resources.

Under the programme, 12,478 eligible final-year students studying in government colleges and institutions across the state will receive financial assistance of ₹5,000 each as a smartphone grant. The support is intended to help students purchase smartphones that can be used for academic purposes, including accessing digital study materials, online classes, and educational platforms.

The scheme is being implemented by the Directorate of Information Technology under the Government of Tripura. Officials said that the initiative is designed to bridge the digital divide and promote greater technological inclusion among students, particularly those from economically weaker backgrounds.

For the Academic Year 2024–25, the scheme was formally launched by the Chief Minister on October 28, 2025. Applications were invited between November 1 and December 20.

A total of 12,478 applications submitted by students from 40 government colleges, institutes, and universities across the state were found eligible for assistance during the current financial year.

The financial aid will be transferred directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, ensuring transparency and timely disbursement of funds.
