Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker and the party’s 2013 Banamalipur Assembly candidate, Gita Roy, has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Govind Ballabh Pant (GBP) Hospital in Agartala due to age-related health complications. She has been undergoing treatment at the hospital for the past several days under close medical supervision.
On Friday, BJP State president and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharjee visited the hospital to meet Roy and enquire about her health condition. During his visit, he interacted with doctors and hospital authorities to obtain a detailed update on her treatment and the progress of her recovery.
Bhattacharjee also spoke with Roy’s family members present at the hospital and expressed concern over her health. He conveyed his best wishes for her speedy recovery and prayed for her complete well-being.
Party leaders and workers accompanying the state president said Roy has been a dedicated BJP worker for many years and played an active role in strengthening the party’s organisational base in the state. Her contribution to the party’s political journey in Tripura has been widely acknowledged by senior leaders and party supporters.
Gita Roy had contested the 2013 Assembly elections from the Banamalipur constituency as the BJP candidate during a time when the party was still working to expand its political footprint in Tripura. Over the years, she remained associated with the party and continued to support its organisational activities.
Local BJP leaders and supporters have also extended their prayers and good wishes for Roy’s recovery. Many party workers described her as a committed grassroots leader who remained actively engaged in political and social activities for years.
As news of her illness spread, several party leaders and well-wishers have been reaching out to her family members while hoping for her early recovery and return to good health.
