New Delhi, March 14: The Government of India on Saturday reiterated its call for de-escalation amid the ongoing regional conflict and assured that the country has sufficient supplies of crude oil, petrol, diesel and LPG. Authorities also said steps are being taken to ensure smooth maritime operations and the safe return of Indian seafarers from the affected region.

Speaking on the issue, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India has consistently advocated restraint and dialogue since the conflict began. He emphasised that maintaining uninterrupted transit of goods and energy remains a key priority for the country.

“India has continuously called for de-escalation and resolution of issues through dialogue. Ensuring the unimpeded transit of goods and energy supplies is also a major priority,” he said.

Jaiswal added that India has urged all sides to avoid targeting civilian infrastructure, including energy facilities, as such actions could have wider global repercussions. He said India remains in close contact with key stakeholders, including members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, as well as Iran, the United States and Israel at various political and diplomatic levels.

He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken with several international counterparts in recent days, while External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Indian missions abroad continue to coordinate closely with their counterparts.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways said efforts are underway to assist Indian seafarers and maintain maritime operations. Special Secretary Rajesh Kumar Sinha said 30 Indian seafarers were repatriated in the past 24 hours, raising the total number brought back to 253. He added that two Indian-flagged LPG carriers—Shivalik LPG Carrier and Nanda Devi LPG Carrier—have safely crossed the Strait of Hormuz and are heading toward India.

Officials from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas also assured that fuel availability remains stable. Joint Secretary Sujata Sharma said crude oil supplies are sufficient and refineries are operating at full capacity. She also urged consumers not to panic book LPG cylinders, assuring that oil marketing companies are continuing home deliveries without disruption.
