Agartala:

With two crucial elections scheduled in April, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura has stepped up its preparations by constituting two 15-member committees—one for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections and another for the Dharmanagar Assembly by-election.

The move is widely viewed as a strategic effort by the party to showcase organisational strength, unity, and readiness at a time when both tribal and urban constituencies are set to test the BJP’s electoral machinery. By forming dedicated panels, the party aims to ensure focused planning and coordinated execution across different regions.

According to party insiders, the committees comprise a balanced mix of ministers, legislators, and senior organisational leaders. This composition reflects a deliberate strategy to combine governance experience with strong grassroots mobilisation—an approach the BJP believes will be key to securing electoral success.

Prominent leaders including Ministers Tinku Roy, Sushanta Chowdhury, Bikash Debbarma, and Santana Chakma have been entrusted with leading the campaign for the TTAADC polls. Meanwhile, the Dharmanagar by-election panel features key figures such as Minister Sudhangshu Das and MLA Bhagaban Das, among others.

BJP State president Rajib Bhattacharjee chaired a high-level meeting at the party’s state office on Sunday, stressing the importance of coordination between the two committees. Party sources indicated that synchronising efforts across constituencies is a top priority to ensure that campaign strategies are executed seamlessly.

Beyond candidate selection—expected to be finalised shortly—the committees have been tasked with overseeing campaign logistics, designing outreach programmes, and strengthening voter engagement initiatives. Door-to-door campaigns, targeted messaging, and grassroots-level interactions are likely to form the core of the party’s election strategy.

Political observers suggest that the formation of these dual committees goes beyond routine election management. It also sends a clear signal of the BJP’s intent to approach the April polls with disciplined organisation and collective leadership, aiming to consolidate its political position across both tribal and non-tribal regions of the state.
