Dhaka, July 31:
The Awami League has strongly condemned the recent communal violence targeting the Hindu community in Gangachara upazila of Rangpur district, alleging that extremist groups backed by the interim government of Muhammad Yunus are carrying out planned attacks.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Awami League said, “With direct support and patronage from the Nazi Yunus clique, communal terrorists have been orchestrating such shameful acts of terror. Under this illegitimate regime, terrorism, violence, and oppression inflicted upon the Hindu and other religious communities are inconceivable in a civilized state governed by the rule of law.”

The party alleged that since Yunus and his group seized power, widespread persecution has been unleashed against Awami League leaders and activists as well as minority communities. “The illegal occupiers—murderer-Nazi Yunus group—harbor and protect extremist communal terrorists, making justice impossible,” the statement added.

The party further noted that under the Yunus regime, Hindus are facing extreme insecurity, being forced to abandon their ancestral homes, with no accountability from those in power. It urged citizens to stand united against the rise of communal terrorism and to work towards harmony and brotherhood.

The Human Rights Congress for Bangladesh Minorities (HRCBM) has also reported that mobs attacked between 14 and 21 Hindu homes in Aldadpur village, Rangpur, on July 27–28 following the arrest of a 17-year-old Hindu boy over an allegedly blasphemous Facebook post. Eyewitnesses described widespread looting and vandalism, forcing several Hindu families to flee.

The Awami League said these incidents reflect an “organized campaign of terror” under the current regime.
