During a family trip to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Smt. Maitri Chakraborty, a resident of Agartala Renters’ Colony and an Assistant Professor associated with TMC, met with an unfortunate accident and sustained a serious head injury. Following the incident, she was immediately admitted to G.B. Pant Hospital in Andaman, where she is currently undergoing treatment.

At the time of the incident, Tripura Member of Parliament Shri Biplab Kumar Deb was also present in Andaman as part of an official government programme, accompanying a parliamentary delegation of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. Upon learning about the accident through social media, a close acquaintance of the family reached out to Shri Deb, seeking his assistance in ensuring proper medical care for the injured professor.

Responding promptly, Shri Biplab Kumar Deb’s office immediately established contact with the family. Demonstrating personal concern and responsibility, Shri Deb himself visited G.B. Pant Hospital on the same day. During his visit, he enquired in detail about the health condition of Smt. Maitri Chakraborty and reviewed her medical progress. He also interacted with her family members and held discussions with the attending doctors regarding her treatment plan and future medical requirements.

Sources informed that Shri Deb assured the family of all necessary support and took steps to ensure that arrangements for advanced medical care were put in place. After consultations with the medical team, it was decided that Smt. Chakraborty would be shifted to a higher medical facility for advanced treatment. As per the latest update, she is scheduled to be transferred for specialized care on the coming Tuesday.

The timely intervention and personal involvement of Shri Biplab Kumar Deb have been widely appreciated by the family, who expressed their gratitude for the swift response and compassionate support during this difficult time.
