Agartala: Mar 09: On Sunday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president J.P. Nadda addressed a massive rally in Agartala to celebrate the second anniversary of the BJP government in Tripura. Speaking to a sea of supporters at Swami Vivekananda Stadium, Nadda highlighted how the political landscape in India has shifted since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister. He emphasized that the once-discussed “anti-incumbency factor” had given way to a “pro-incumbency” mindset, with voters repeatedly choosing the BJP in elections. This, he said, is a testament to the party’s ability to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people.

Nadda also pointed to BJP’s electoral success over the years, noting that in 2014, the party secured 17 crore votes, which increased to nearly 24 crore votes in 2024. He underscored the party’s consistent wins in states like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Tripura, attributing these victories to the BJP’s focus on service rather than the pursuit of power.

The BJP President praised the Tripura government for its achievements in sectors like social welfare, tribal development, agriculture, education, healthcare, and infrastructure. He also announced two new schemes aimed at empowering girls in the state: Mukhyamantri Balika Samriddhi Yojana (MBSJ) and Mukhyamantri Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana (MKAY). Under MBSJ, a Rs 50,000 bond will be deposited for every girl born to a Below Poverty Line (BPL) family, which will mature into Rs 10 lakh at age 18. MKAY will provide scooties to 140 meritorious girls.

Nadda also lauded the BJP-led government for reducing crime by 20% and boosting Tripura’s economic standing, with significant increases in tax devolution and grant-in-aid from the Centre. He concluded by emphasizing the state’s progress in organic farming and the overall all-round development under Chief Minister Manik Saha’s leadership.
