Chikkamagaluru : April 10: BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra came down heavily on the Congress-led government in Karnataka, calling it a “stumbling government” that has failed to deliver on its promises. Speaking at a massive public gathering organized as part of the BJP’s Janakrosha Yatra, Vijayendra criticized the Congress for claiming to be a government that keeps its word, stating that in reality, it has failed to fulfill its assurances.

He accused the Siddaramaiah-led government of increasing the prices of over 50 essential commodities, including a hike in milk prices by ₹9 over the past 20 months, making it harder for rural families to afford basic nutrition. While the government boasts of offering free bus travel to women, Vijayendra pointed out that thousands of rural buses have stopped operating, leaving farmers and students in villages stranded without transport to schools and colleges.

He also slammed the hike in diesel prices and claimed that the cost for farmers to install a transformer has skyrocketed from ₹25,000 during the BJP regime to ₹2.5–3 lakh under the current government. Furthermore, he alleged that the Congress government has increased fees for basic services such as blood tests, death certificates, and stamp duty, and even imposed a garbage tax.

Vijayendra said the Janakrosha Yatra was launched for three reasons: to protest the corrupt and anti-people government, to oppose the appeasement of Muslims at the cost of Hindus, and to raise voices against the alleged misuse of funds meant for backward communities and Scheduled Castes.

The rally witnessed the presence of several key BJP leaders, including Vidhan Parishad Opposition Leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, MP Kota Srinivasa Pujari, CT Ravi, and others, as the yatra continued its course through major districts like Mysuru, Mandya, and Udupi.
