Bhubaneswar, Oct 21 – The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) today cleared the air surrounding the projected path of the impending cyclone. As per the IMD , the low pressure area over the East-central Bay of Bengal and the adjoining north Andaman Sea moved west- northwestwards and now lays as well marked low pressure area over east-central Bay of Bengal.
The IMD Director General Mrutunjay Mohapatra said the system is likely to take the shape of severe cyclonic storm and are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall from October 23 on wards.
The system is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression on October 22 morning and into a cyclonic storm by October 23 over east-central Bay of Bengal. Thereafter, it is very likely to move north-westwards and reach northwest Bay of Bengal coasts by October 24 morning. It is very likely to cross north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island during the night of October 24 and early money of October 25 as a severe cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting 120 kmph, IMD said.
The fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea from October 23 to 25 as the wind speed is likely to cross above 60 kmph and gradually increase to 100-110 kmph.
