Agartala: December 12: In a significant breakthrough, the Dhalai District Police intercepted a major narcotics consignment during routine naka checking in the intervening night of 11 and 12 December 2025. The operation took place under the jurisdiction of Ambassa Police Station, specifically in the Upanagar area, where a vigilant police team stopped a Bolero vehicle that appeared suspicious.
Upon conducting a detailed search of the vehicle, the police team made a substantial seizure. Hidden cleverly inside the vehicle was 1 kg 862 grams of suspected heroin, a highly valuable and illegal contraband often trafficked through the region. In addition to this, the officers also recovered 10,000 Yaba/Methamphetamine tablets, a dangerous synthetic drug widely known for its addictive and damaging effects.
The swift and coordinated action by the police prevented the illegal substances from being circulated further. All three individuals travelling in the Bolero were apprehended on the spot. Their identities are being verified, and preliminary interrogation suggests possible links to larger narcotic networks operating in the region.
Following the arrests, a case has been registered under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) as well as the Motor Vehicles Act. The seized vehicle has also been impounded. Further investigation is underway to trace the source and intended destination of the contraband.
This successful operation underscores the continued commitment of the Dhalai District Police to combat drug trafficking and uphold law and order.
